So you're the driver?
Thinking about your driving?
Start Here
If you’re here, something has probably made you stop and think.
That might be:
- A near miss
- A loss of confidence
- Feedback from someone else
- A change in your health
That doesn’t automatically mean you need to stop driving.
But it does mean it’s worth taking a closer look.
Step 1 – How do you feel about your driving?
Before anything else, ask yourself:
- Do I feel confident when I’m driving?
- Are there situations I avoid?
- Do I ever feel overwhelmed or unsure?
👉 Your confidence matters.
Step 2 – Are there any warning signs?
Some common signs to think about:
- Getting confused on familiar routes
- Missing road signs or signals
- Slower reactions to hazards
- Other drivers sounding their horn more often
👉 One sign doesn’t mean everything—but patterns matter.
Step 3 – What are your options?
You don’t go from “fine” to “stop driving” overnight.
Options might include:
- Adjusting when or where you drive
- Taking refresher lessons
- Getting a professional driving assessment
Step 4 – Planning ahead
Even if everything is fine now, it’s worth thinking ahead.
- What would you do if driving became difficult?
- What are your alternatives?
👉 Planning early gives you control.
What Does the Assessment Provide?
This confidential and informal driving assessment aims to enhance your current driving skills. There is no pass or fail aspect.
Our assessors will observe your driving in familiar traffic conditions and offer recommendations to ensure your ongoing safety.
Where is the Assessment Conducted?
The assessment is conducted from your home, using your own vehicle. It is carried out by myself. I am a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). Im trained and experienced in working with older drivers.
Cost of the Driving Assessment
Each assessment session lasts about 60 minutes and costs £75.
Why Consider a Driving Skills Assessment?
Driving is a high-risk activity, and small improvements in skills or awareness can significantly enhance safety.
While older drivers tend to have fewer accidents than younger drivers, age can impact one’s ability to handle certain driving situations. Our professional assessors can help identify and address any risks, helping you remain safe on the road.
Please note, this service is a skills-based assessment and does not evaluate medical fitness to drive.
What to Expect During the Assessment
– Conducted by a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
– Takes place in your own vehicle in a comfortable and relaxed setting.
– Begins from your home or a preferred location of your choice.
– Includes a safety check and some preliminary questions. Your driving licence and eyesight (20m number plate reading) will also be checked.
– The assessment lasts approximately 60 minutes, with breaks as needed.
– Tailored to your specific needs, including a variety of road types such as urban, rural, and dual carriageways.
– You are welcome to have a friend or family member accompany you.
– This is not a test. After the drive, the assessor will give verbal feedback and provide a written report on your driving. You will receive this report within a few weeks. Additional support and advice, or further assessments, may be recommended based on your needs.
